Central Community Museum & Historical Society

The Central Community Historical Society Museum is located in De Witt, Iowa and is here to share the history of Clinton County with you. The museum has 3 buildings with over 25 exhibits and thousands of genealogy cards and files. There is everything from newspapers dating back 1865 to Typewriters and cameras.

Our Story

How we started
The Central Community Historical Society started in 1977 by Marvin Doescher. Marvin Doescher later appointed Ann Soenksen as president, and she still is to this day. The Society continued to grow and collect items and was able to secure a location in 1987. The building had to be completely redone, it was purchased while it was a gas station, and has been being added onto since. The Historical Society is still expanding and collecting items today.
How we run
The Museum is a Non-profit organization where many people volunteer weekly to help keep it up and running. Without the volunteers and individuals who donate items to the museum, there wouldn't be much to see. We are always willing to have more volunteers help in our museum and keep it here for generations.
